Singapore is a city of luxury with five star hotels, world-renowned restaurants, and some of the best cocktails in the world. In fact, Singapore is home to six of the World’s 50 Best Bars. We even met a few travelers that were in Singapore solely to visit all six of the world’s best bars. While we have visited a number of breweries on our travels, sipping expensive cocktails around the world isn’t top of our travel bucket list. With most cocktails starting around $25 USD in Singapore, being a cocktail connoisseur would break our travel budget quickly. Still, we could not leave this cocktail famous city with out trying a few. One of our favorite experiences in Singapore was enjoying cocktails and happy hour specials at the top of the Marina Bay Sands hotel.
Visiting the Marina Bay Sands should be high on your list of things to do in Singapore. Even if you are not a hotel guest, you can enjoy the views from the top of this unique hotel for the price of a drink. The infinity pool is only open to hotel guests, but the three rooftop restaurants located are open to everyone. You don’t need a reservation to enjoy a cocktail from the rooftop bars.
We visited Lavo Singapore, an Italian-American restaurant located in Tower 1. It is easy to get to. Simply step into an elevator and take it all the way to the top floor. The hardest part is figuring out which tower you are near when walking through the lobby of Marina Bay Sands. Immediately after exiting the elevator we were greeted by spectacular views of the Gardens by the Bay.
Daily happy hour is offered at most Marina Bay Sands restaurants which include 1 for 1 drink specials from 5-7pm. Happy hour specials cannot be shared between two people. We arrived around 6:45pm and to avoid having to double fist cocktails immediately, we took advantage of another drink special, called Toast to Tuesdays. Each restaurant offers a signature cocktail at half price on Tuesdays from 6-9pm. We think this deal is even better than happy hour. Lavo’s signature drink during our visit was the White Walker by Johnnie Walker.
The post happy hour specials entertained us long enough to stay for the evening shows. We watch the Gardens by the Bay light show at 7:45pm and Spectra the Marina Bay Sands show at 8:00pm.
The light show at Gardens by the Bay was underwhelming watching from the rooftop bar. After the first few minutes you will likely lose interest as we did. We recommend seeing the light show from the garden with the music as it is a completely different experience.
While the garden light show was underwhelming, viewing Spectra from the top of Marina Bay Sands was AWESOME! During Spectra there are lights from the top of the hotel, music projecting, and images displayed in the water. We highly recommend viewing the show from the rooftop and from the waters edge.
If we haven’t sold you on visiting Marina Bay Sands on a Tuesday yet, here’s one more major advantage. The rooftop was far from crowded and it was easy to watch both light shows as well as get amazing photos of the city. We even had the opportunity to sit and enjoy the view with a table. So save your travel budget and enjoy specialty cocktails while having a memorable experience at the iconic Marina Bay Sands.
Our Happy Hour at Marina Bay Sands experience was during a four day trip in Singapore. During this trip we identified the 10 Instagrammable photo spots in Singapore.
