As avid hikers, we are always in search of quality, versatile and most importantly comfortable hiking pants. We recently were gifted KÜHL hiking pants and have worn them on several hikes In New Hampshire. Here is our honest review of the Kuhl hiking pants we tested:
Kuhl Resistor Chino – Men’s Hiking Pant Review
Out of the two of us, Chris is more selective with his clothes. After looking at the Resistor Chino online, Chris was sold and couldn’t wait to test out the pants. The Resistor Chino Pants are extremely versatile. He’s long been searching for pants that are rugged enough for long hikes but stylish enough to wear while traveling. Chris prefers tapered pants and the fit of the Resistor Chino was perfect. We hiked one of New Hampshire’s 52 With a View mountains and the temperature ended up being hotter than expected during the hike. Thankfully, the Resistor Chino sheds water and wasn’t restrictive or overly hot during a warm hike. The pants conveniently have two phone pockets on either leg, which is super helpful when wanting quick access to your phone for photos while also making sure that it is secured. The pants are true fit to size with no real give in the waistline. It would be nice if the waist band had a little bit of stretch to it but make sure to go a size up just to give yourself a little more room. Overall, the Resistor Chino fits that need that Chris has been searching for. Stylish and durable. The $119 price tag is well worth it given the pants versatility and quality.
Kuhl Trekr Pant – Women’s Hiking Pant Review
I selected the Kuhl women’s Trekr Pant in the color pine. My first reactions were pure excitement at how nicely the pants fit. I love the pine color! It looks better in person than online and can be paired with any color shirt or jacket. I always typically wear black, so I am excited to have a different color to add to my hiking wardrobe. After several hikes and washes, I am happy to report that these pants actually keep their fit. They fit true to size and don’t stretch too much. No need to worry about a belt or pulling them up while on a long hike. They are also lightweight enough to be my new perfect three-season hiking pants for New Hampshire. The pulls on the side of the pant let you shorten the pants to capri length for warmer hikes. Another bonus is having pockets deep enough to hold an iPhone AND the pockets don’t get in the way while hiking. Easy access to my cell phone is a must as not all of my hiking backpacks have pockets in the front. These pants solve that problem.
If we haven’t made it clear in this review, Kuhl hiking pants are high quality. As we continue to hike New Hampshire’s 48 4,000 ft mountains, we know we will get a lot of use of our Kuhl hiking pants.
